What could be more enjoyable than a band concert in the springtime on a Sunday afternoon? Sanctifica Wind Ensemble will present its 10th annual concert under the direction of Billie Moore. The program consists of a variety of music that should be pleasing to all ages, young and old: an American classical hymn, a Scottish folk song, a symphonic march, a compelling overture, a jazz tune by Dizzy Gillespie, music of the 60’s, and familiar movie themes. This year Sanctifica will feature the music of Henry Mancini including “The Pink Panther,” “Baby Elephant Walk,” “The Sweetheart Tree,” and “Peter Gunn” and will spotlight favorite movie themes from “Jurassic Park,” “Singing in the Rain,” and “The Sound of Music.”
Sanctifica consists of about sixteen members and friends of St. George’s Episcopal Church. Guest musicians from the Memphis area will join the ensemble in celebration of music that we all love. The ensemble has worked diligently all year for this moment to share its tremendous musical gifts with the community. The concert is free, but donations are accepted, and a reception following the concert will be hosted by the St. George’s Friends of Music.
