Current Diocesan Opportunities

The Episcopal Diocese of West Tennessee currently seeks a Canon to the Ordinary. The primary role of the Canon to the Ordinary is to serve as the Bishop’s advisor and counselor in pastoral, administrative, and canonical matters related to clergy, congregations, and staff. They must be able to build trust with the Bishop and understand the Bishop’s needs, while forming effective working relationships with diocesan staff as well as clergy and laity. They will work to establish and maintain effective systems to carry out the vision and programs initiated by diocesan leadership.

Clergy/ Lay Ministry Transition Opportunities

The Head Chaplain plays the lead role in defining, preserving, and promoting St. Mary’s School’s Episcopal identity to all constituencies. The Chaplain is a community builder and works across divisions, departments, and two campuses to coordinate Chapel programs and religious education. The Chaplain teaches religion classes and as the religion department chair has leadership role in the Academic Council in the Upper School.

The Head Chaplain provides pastoral care to the full breadth and diversity of students, families, and employees. The Chaplain reports directly to the Head of School and meets quarterly with the Rector of the Church of the Holy Communion. The Church shares its campus with the Middle and Upper Schools and provides its worship space for daily Chapel for grades 6-12. St. Mary’s is an independent Episcopal school that has partnered with Church of the Holy Communion for over 70 years.

This is a full-time, exempt, administrator position that comes with a competitive salary and benefits package including but not limited to paid time off, health insurance, CPG pension program (for ordained priests), tuition remission for up to one admissions-eligible daughter, and professional development opportunities.

Lay Staff Opportunities

Modeling Christian discipleship and leadership, Grace-St. Luke’s Director of Youth and Family Ministry collaborates with the Part-Time Youth Formation Associate and the Clergy by working on Sundays, weekday afternoon-evenings, and occasional Saturdays, as the lead staff person to build relationships with middle school and high school youth and youth parents; encourage regular worship, Christian formation, and community engagement (outreach, justice) ministry participation; teach formation/education classes; and facilitate play activity through Episcopal Youth Community (EYC), all for youth to become faithful and always maturing Christians.

The Facility Maintenance and Events Coordinator of The Barth House Episcopal Center is responsible for preparing the building for recurring and one-off events, as well as for the maintenance and care of the facility’s infrastructure, utility systems, and applicable equipment. The goal of this position is to ensure the multipurpose spaces of the Barth House remain problem-free, operate in compliance with applicable regulations and diocesan standards and procedures, and remain safe and functional for all of our guests.
