Artist Talk: Emily Austin

First Thursday at Good Shepherd welcomes Emily Austin for the October gathering of The Sanctuary Series. Emily explores God’s immense love for the world by making art and telling stories. She does this professionally as Director of Communications and Community Engagement for the Episcopal Diocese of West Tennessee, but she has cultivated her creative practice for most of her adult life. Her greatest joys have included sewing, drawing, painting, podcasting, and, most recently, digital graphic design. In 2024, she began designing sacred icons of women of faith, including Mary Magdalene, Julian of Norwich, and Joan of Arc. Emily will talk about some of these incredible women and how any art can be sacred when approached with a spirit of humility and openness.
Free and open to the public.
