The Church has long played an important role in documenting the vital events of the community. Births, marriages, deaths, and other community happenings that took place long ago are known today because of the work of church archivists and historiographers throughout the ages. Archivists take part in the ministry of remembering.
The Diocesan Archives, the official repository for the records of The Diocese of West Tennessee, is located at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The chief function of the archives is to serve the information needs of the Bishop and staff, as well as clergy and parishes.
