Established on the plantation of the Elizabeth Whitmel Watkins family who came to West Tennessee from North Carolina in the late 1820s as a place to worship for her family, Ravenscroft Chapel was consecrated in 1836 by Bishop James Hervey Otey. Ravenscroft Chapel was named in honor of Bishop John Stark Ravenscroft, the first bishop of North Carolina. The church now, as then, continues its commitment to providing a place of worship for all in the area. Though our number of communicants may be small, our commitment to the surrounding area is huge. We are located on Holly Grove Road in a rural area west of Brighton. Our faith community is a supportive, friendly and all-welcoming Church dedicated to spreading the Gospel of Christ.
