Feast of Absalom Jones Commemoration
February 22 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm CST

Join us in honoring the life and legacy of The Reverend Absalom Jones, the first Black priest in the Episcopal Church. Presented by the Edward Demby Chapter of the Union of Black Episcopalians and the Episcopal Diocese of West Tennessee, this special gathering will celebrate his enduring impact through worship, reflection, and community. The program will include a Rite II Holy Eucharist, featuring a homily from The Reverend Dr. Dorothy White (Interim Rector, St. George’s Episcopal Church, Germantown). Following the service, a panel discussion will explore the theme “Building Unity Through Service.”
Our program will culminate in a closing retreat led by Dr. Lavonnie Perry Claybon. Light refreshments will be served. This event is free and open to all—we welcome your presence as we celebrate Absalom Jones’ legacy of faith, justice, and service.
