Event Series: Lectio Divina Group

Lectio Divina Group

August 9 @ 9:15 am - 10:15 am CDT
Free

Lectio Divina originated in the third century as a traditional monastic practice of scriptural reading, meditation and prayer intended to promote communion with God and to increase the knowledge of God’s Word. It does not treat Scripture as texts to be studied, but as the living Word. You can practice this form of biblical contemplation alone any time in the privacy of your own home. Click here for more information on the Four Steps of Lectio Divina.

St. Thomas the Apostle’s twice-monthly Lectio Divina group will meet on Aug. 9 and 30 this month, beginning at 9:15 am, in the parish hall. The group is organized and led by Ceara Pickett. At St. Thomas, the focus for contemplation and meditation is the Gospel lection appointed for the particular Sunday the group meets. The scripture for Aug 9 is Matthew 14:22-33 (http://lectionarypage.net/YearA_RCL/Pentecost/AProp14_RCL.html#gsp1), and for Aug 30 Matthew 16:21-28 (http://lectionarypage.net/YearA_RCL/Pentecost/AProp17_RCL.html#gsp1).
