Founded in the late 1820s by the Elizabeth Whitmel Watkins family—who migrated from North Carolina to West Tennessee—Ravenscroft Episcopal Chapel began as a place of worship for the family and local community. The chapel was consecrated in 1836 by Bishop James Hervey Otey and named in honor of Bishop John Stark Ravenscroft, the first Bishop of North Carolina.
Today, Ravenscroft Chapel remains steadfast in its mission to offer a welcoming place of worship for all. Though our number of communicants is small, our commitment to our neighbors is anything but. Located on Holly Grove Road in the rural countryside west of Brighton, our faith community is friendly, supportive, and deeply dedicated to sharing the Gospel of Christ.
