Worship Services
We gather for in-person, traditional worship each Sunday at 11:00 AM. Our community is blessed to have a docket of Episcopal clergy who regularly celebrate the Holy Eucharist with us; when they are not available, we offer lay-lead Morning Prayer service.
When in-person worship isn’t possible, we livestream services on YouTube to stay connected as a community of faith.
Our worship is enriched by the gift of music, joyfully offered by our long-time organist, Thirza Sloan, on our beautiful pipe organ. The music uplifts the soul and deepens our experience of God’s presence.
Children are always welcome at St. Matthew’s. Nursery care is available upon request.
Ministries and Community Life
St. Matthew’s is deeply committed to serving our neighbors with compassion and generosity. Our ministries include:
- Women’s Prison Ministry – We provide personal care items for women who are incarcerated, helping to meet basic needs with dignity.
- Thanksgiving Outreach – In partnership with Ravenscroft Episcopal Church, we collect and deliver holiday food donations to families served by the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse in Tipton County.
- Altar Flower Ministry – Each week, our altar flowers are shared with local nursing and rehabilitation centers to bring joy and beauty to residents’ rooms and common spaces.
- Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper – A beloved annual tradition, our free pancake dinner welcomes the wider community as we prepare our hearts for Lent.
- CARE (Covington Animal Rescue Effort) – We support this local organization with monthly donations to help care for vulnerable animals in our area.
- Undie Sunday – Together with Ravenscroft Episcopal Church, we collect and donate new underwear for those experiencing homelessness in Shelby County.
