At St. Matthew’s, we are a warm and inclusive community where all are truly welcome. Whether you’re joining us for worship, fellowship, or service, you’ll find a place of belonging and purpose here.
Worship Services
We gather for in-person, traditional worship each Sunday at 11:00 AM. Our community is blessed to have retired Bishop, Rt. Rev. Don Johnson who retired from the Diocese of West Tennessee. When he is unavailable, we have a docket of Episcopal clergy who regularly celebrate the Holy Eucharist with us; when they are not available, we offer lay-led Morning Prayer service. Our worship is enriched by the gift of music, joyfully offered by our long-time organist, Thirza Sloan, on our beautiful pipe organ. The music uplifts the soul and deepens our experience of God’s presence.
Children are always welcome at St. Matthew’s. Nursery care is available upon request.
Ministries and Community Life
St. Matthew’s is deeply committed to serving our neighbors with compassion and generosity. Our ministries include:
- Tipton County Commission on Aging (TCCA) – We provide fellowship through games and arts and crafts monthly to the patrons of TCCA.
- Thanksgiving Outreach – In partnership with Ravenscroft Episcopal Church, we collect and deliver holiday food donations to families served by the Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse in Tipton County.
- CARE (Covington Animal Rescue Effort) – We support this local organization with monthly donations to help care for vulnerable animals in our area.
- Undie Sunday – Together with Ravenscroft Episcopal Church, we collect and donate new underwear for those experiencing homelessness in Shelby County.
- Thistle & Bee Enterprises – We collect donations from our congregation to donate to this worthy women’s charity.
- St. Columba Episcopal Camp and Retreat Center– We collect and donate mismatched coffee mugs for clients to use during fellowship.
- Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse – We collect and donate school supplies for the students at the Carl Perkins Center in Tipton County.
