St. Mary’s Dyersburg Calls New Rector

The Episcopal Diocese of West Tennessee is pleased to announce that St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Dyersburg has called the Rev. Silas Engstrom as its next rector. Father Si will begin his ministry with the congregation on Sunday, May 24.

Fr. Si received his call to ordained ministry in the Diocese of West Missouri. He earned his Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary and completed Clinical Pastoral Education at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, Virginia. During his time in seminary, he served as a seminarian and deacon at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in McLean, Virginia.

Following graduation, Fr. Si began his ordained ministry at St. James Episcopal Church in Springfield, Missouri, where he served as Curate, assisting the Rector with pastoral care, liturgy, and Christian formation. He also served as part-time Priest-in-Charge of St. Alban’s Episcopal Church in Bolivar, Missouri.

Through his ministry, Fr. Si joins in the ministry of the Church: proclaiming the good news of Jesus, supporting others in their relationship with God, and building a society that seeks justice and honors all people’s dignity.

Please join us in giving thanks for this new chapter in the life of St. Mary’s, and in welcoming Fr. Si to West Tennessee.

Everliving God, strengthen and sustain Silas, that with patience
and understanding he may love and care for your people; and
grant that together they may follow Jesus Christ, offering to
you their gifts and talents; through him who lives and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
