St. Columba Staff Transitions

The Episcopal Diocese of West Tennessee is pleased to announce two leadership transitions at St. Columba Episcopal Camp and Retreat Center that will help guide the camp into its next chapter of ministry.

Executive Director: Matthew Arehart

Matthew Arehart headshotMatthew Arehart has been appointed Executive Director of St. Columba and will begin in this role on March 23. Matthew brings extensive experience and a deep familiarity with St. Columba’s mission and operations, having served on the St. Columba staff in multiple leadership roles over the past several years. Most recently, he has served as Associate Executive Director for Facilities, where he has overseen the maintenance and stewardship of the 145-acre campus while working closely with staff and the board to align daily operations with long-term strategic goals.

Earlier in his tenure at St. Columba, Matthew served as Director of Camps and Guest Experience and Director of Camps and Events, helping to expand programming, strengthen the camp’s hospitality ministry, and develop new offerings that engage both diocesan groups and outside guests. Prior to joining the St. Columba staff full-time, he served as Minister to Youth at Church of the Holy Communion in Memphis, where he revitalized youth programming and led pilgrimage and formation opportunities for young people in the parish.

Director of Camps & Registration: Dillon Harrison

Dillon Harrison has been appointed Director of Camps & Registration and will also begin his ministry at St. Columba on March 23. Harrison brings nearly a decade of experience in camping ministry, most recently serving as Outdoor Education Director at Camp Wesley Pines in Mississippi. In that role and in previous positions as Program Director, he developed outdoor education programs, trained seasonal staff, and helped expand camp programming and accessibility for churches and young people.

We are grateful for the leadership of Pastor Michael Douglas, who has served as Interim Executive Director of St. Columba since January 2025.

St. Columba provides programming for all ages and abilities on its campus in Memphis, Tennessee. Groups of 2 to 200 can experience daytime, overnight or weekend retreats and adventures. You are invited to click here to learn more.

A Prayer for Summer Camp
by Episcopal Camp & Conference Centers

Gracious God, we give you thanks and praise for the beauty of creation.
We give you specific thanks for the camps and conference centers we cherish —
where we grow in our love for you and one another.
We give thanks for your stalwart servants — courageous and creative camp directors, staff and board members, counselors, and cooks —
who through this last year have built up our centers in so many ways.

Now we ask you to bless these your servants in this new season.
Support them in their faith and increase their joy as they proclaim
by word, example, and loving care your Good News in Christ.

Finally, dear God, pour out your Grace on all campers,
that they may know your love —
through prayer, holy places, inspired programs and loving people.
All this we ask through your Son Jesus Christ who,
living, dying and raised to new life in the midst of community and creation,
showed us your extravagant and abiding love,
so that we might have life and have it in abundance. Amen.
