About Us

Worship Services and Times

St. Matthew’s is currently between full-time rectors. This has been a blessing in many ways as we have had several priests fill in who have varied backgrounds and experiences that have enlightened and engaged our congregation.

We currently offer traditional worship services held weekly in-person on Sundays at 10:30 AM. We live-stream our services on YouTube when we are unable (due to COVID-19) to meet in person. We are an inclusive church who welcomes everyone to our services. When we do not have a priest to officiate, we offer Morning Prayer.

We enjoy traditional music played by our long-time organist, Thirza Sloan, on our pipe organ. Our music fills one’s spirit with joy!

We welcome all children to our services but provide nursery care if requested.

We offer Bible Study on Wednesdays at 6:00 PM in St. Matthew’s parish hall.

Ministries/Activities

St. Matthew’s offers many opportunities to serve the community. We minister to the Women’s Prison by way of providing personal items not readily available to them. We partner with Ravenscroft Episcopal Church on our Thanksgiving gift project in which the congregations donate food for the holiday to the local Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse Tipton County for families in need of food. We offer our altar flowers to the local nursing/rehab centers each week to brighten up patient’s rooms/common areas. St. Matthew’s holds a free Shrove Tuesday Pancake dinner each year that brings the community together in preparation for Lent. St. Matthew’s donates monthly to Covington Animal Rescue Effort (CARE). St. Matthew’s partners with Ravenscroft Episcopal Church for Undie Sunday in which the congregations donate underwear to donate to homeless shelters in Shelby County.
